With there being a multitude of recipes for whipped butter on the internet, it can be difficult to decide which one to try.  Well here are four different recipes that I recommend viewing first:

1. Whipped Shealoe – Remixed!

This recipe is what I currently use to seal my hair after a fresh wash and condition.  (I actually eyeball the portions but will do my best to give you actual ratios based off memory.)

Ingredients:
½ cup shea butter
¼ cup aloe vera gel
1 tbsp safflower oil (or oil of your choice)
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp grapeseed oil
1 tsp honey

Instructions:
Break the shea butter into small pieces and place in a bowl.  Using a hand mixer, whip the shea butter until fluffy and the chunks are gone.  (If your shea butter is too hard, melt it only slightly to soften it a bit.)  Add in the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly with the hand mixer.  Finito!

2. Whipped Mango Butter

Are you not a fan of shea butter?  Then try mango butter, which has a lighter feel.  (This recipe is from Sparkwisdom.)

Ingredients:
1 cup melted mango butter
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp sunflower oil
½ tsp vitamin E oil
1 drop honey

Instructions:
Bring a pot of water to a rapid boil.  Remove the pot from the stove and place a heat-safe container of mango butter in the pot.  Allow the mango butter to melt slowly.  Once melted, pour the mango butter into a bowl and place in the freezer for about 8-10 minutes to solidify a little.  Remove the butter from the freezer and mix in the remaining ingredients using a hand mixer until fluffy.  (The mixture will harden slightly over time.)

3. Simple 2-Ingredient Whipped Butter

If you are new to mixing and want to whip a simple recipe, try this one:

Ingredients:
½ cup shea butter
¼ cup olive oil (or a little more depending on desired consistency)

Instructions:
Melt the shea butter directly in a pot over the stove, but do not bring it to a boil. Once melted, pour the shea butter into a bowl, set aside, and allow it to solidify a little.  Then mix in the olive oil with a fork (but a hand mixer works better).

4. Whipped Butter for Conditioner Lovers

For those who cannot get enough of conditioners, this might be a recipe worth trying.  (In the past, I used a mix similar to this one and loved it on my hair.)

Ingredients:
½ cup shea butter
½ cup conditioner (preferably a leave-in like Kinky-Curly Knot Today, but I have used a V05 rinse-out conditioner in the past)
¼ cup jojoba oil
a few drops of essential oil for fragrance (optional)
*Note: avoid conditioners with proteins and silicones for this mixture

Instructions:
Melt the shea butter directly in a pot over the stove, but do not bring it to a boil. Once melted, pour the shea butter into a bowl, set aside, and allow it to solidify a little.  Then mix in the conditioner and jojoba oil with a hand mixer.
