When did you and your husband meet?
S:
My husband and I met in the DMV area when I was visiting my college roommate. She and my husband grew up together. My roommate had a dinner for all of her friends after church and invited him to join us. I remember him being the only guy who asked my roommate what he could bring to the dinner. Now, this makes perfect sense as to why he asked because he is fully in love with food and cooking! Something that I benefit from daily šŸ˜€

We all hung out that evening after the dinner and we got to talking a bit. Both he and I thought nothing of this exchange. The next day my roommate, my now husband, and I were all supposed to go out. However my roommate got summoned home. She encouraged me to still go out with him despite my hesitation. She promised me she wasnā€™t trying to set me up and told me he was safe to be around. So with my continued hesitation I went out with him, alone. He picked me up and we had great conversation.

After going out we exchanged contact information and I honestly didnā€™t believe that we would remain in contact. I left the DMV the next day and told him Iā€™d give him a buzz when I returned home. I called him after returning home and we talked on the phone for 3 hours. This became quite a habit and our long distance relationship began a few months later. We were long distance for 4.5 of the 6.5 years that we dated. This wasnā€™t an easy task, but well worth it.

When did you get married?
S:
We were married in Michigan in June of 2010.

How was your big day?
S:
We had so much fun on our wedding day. All of the members of our bridal party and wedding guests talk about how much fun they had and how relaxed the day was. My husband and I talk about the weekend quite often. We knew that we wouldnā€™t have felt that way without the help of my sisterā€™s event planning company šŸ™‚

How did you wear your hair?
S:
My locs were curled with pin curls in the front. This style really worked well with my birdcage veil.

What was your process of deciding how to style you hair?
S:
My wedding had a vintage theme so I tried to find styles that incorporated this. I wanted something that still reflected my personal style.

How did your family/husband/guests receive your hair at the wedding?
S:
Everybody loved it. My husband really loves my locs as do I šŸ™‚ He has always been supportive of natural styles and really likes most of the styles that Iā€™ve done. We both had locs at the time of the wedding so guests loved to see the ā€œloc coupleā€ as we were called.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
S:
