How to Protective Style with Loc Extensions

by Alexandra of The Good Hair Blog

I am stoked about these! It was nice to finally find the time to install my loc extensions. I’ve been dying to put them in but was a bit confused on how I’d go about doing so. Y’all know I have been itching for locs, my marley twists were getting me by but THESE are like the real thing, minus the commitment of course. Not to mention that these are the ULTIMATE protective style! After seeing my friend with hers installed, I was convinced that I could not only pull them off but put them in myself. 8 hours later I had a head full of locs that I adore AND can take down whenever I am “over” them.

The video that helped me figure out how to install the faux locs is by the gorgeous Cassandre Beccai! Ms. Cass also aided in my figuring out how to install my infamous Marley Twists. You can check out the video below.

I installed the locs over a course of 2 days, 4 hours each day. The method is extremely simple as you will see when you watch Cassandre’s video. If you can put in Marley Twists you can do this. The locs are basically marley twists wrapped in marley hair.

When installing I used about 6 packs of Marley hair for medium sized locs. My suggestions is to get 8 packs of the hair just to be safe.

What I used:
Marley Hair (any brand is fine)
Wide tooth comb
Water/aloe spray
Simplicity Hair Oil
Shea Butter

I am in love with my “locs” and cannot wait to rock them in fun ways. The older they get the more I like them.

Have you tried loc extensions? If so, how do you like them?
