Introduce yourself!
K:
Hi, I’m Karmin Kass. I’m a student and lifestyle enthusiast who resides in the DC Metropolitan area.

What is your style philosophy?
K:
Just be yourself. Style reflects more than what people see on the outside, I find it’s really an internal force that pours out of you. Not a lot of people know how to channel that…

How would you describe your sense of style?
K:
When it comes to my own style, I’m a minimalist. My personality does a lot of the talking, so when it comes to what I wear, I try not to overload.

What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
K:
First, I think about the weather. I dress mainly for comfort, so if it’s cold, I layer up, and if it’s hot, I love to be naked for the most part. It doesn’t take me long to figure out what to wear. I’m a simple woman when it comes to that, so most likely I throw on my favorite pair of denim shorts, all white t-shirt, some red lipstick, and roll out.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
K:
First, my all black romper that I bought from H&M a few years ago. I love being able to just jump into it whenever I don’t feel like thinking about what to wear. It’s great for the evening and daily moves. Next, a long maxi dress by Acne. I love it because it’s loungewear really. It’s form fitting and really makes me look like an amazon. Finally, I love these black heels I bought from Zara. They are perfect heels, 3 ½ inch, great for dressing up and down. I take those babies out a lot.

What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
K:
I love the TheOutnet.com, Zara.com, and Ebay. I’ve had a lot of luck getting designer clothing off of Ebay, like these Stella McCartney Faux Croc Heels I had to have, and a few pairs of J Brand jeans that really work with my hips and butt. J Brand is definitely made for women with curves.

How long have you been natural?
K:
I’ve been natural for about 5 years now.

How and why did you transition into natural hair?
K:
It’s funny, I never shaved my head just to be natural. I actually couldn’t afford to maintain my relaxed Halle Berry style cut every two weeks, so one day without telling anyone, I walked into a barbershop and told the guy to cut my hair as he would any guy. I’m just that type of person that makes drastic spur of the moment decisions like that. I know what feels right.

What is your signature hairstyle?
K:
A fade with a “half-moon” side part. My side-part is a must have because it gives me a different look. It’s one thing to shave your head, but when you shape it up like a guy and add a little flair to it, it gives you an edge. My barber knows to always add it at the end of a cut.

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
K:
My styling regimen is pretty simple. Hair and nails, I keep them simple. Clear coats, black or white paint, and that’s it. When you have no hair you don’t have to do much, but get it cut about every 2 weeks max. I make sure my scalp is moisturized with essential oils because anything with petroleum-like substances will clog my follicles causing a white film-like mess. During the wintertime, I grow my hair out a little bit to get a darker look, but not too much. The main thing I focus on is my face. When you have no hair, your face is exposed to everything outside, so I make sure to take care of it with SPF infused products, natural makeup, and little to no jewelry.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
K:
Yes, you can read my mind at www.notsofab.com, a not so fabulous look at the life of a woman trying to get her own. Also, my Instagram and Twitter: @karminkass.
