Style: Victoria in California

Introduce yourself!
V:
My name is Victoria Sanders. I live in Los Angeles by way of Alabama and DC. I’m a wardrobe stylist and fashion blogger.

What is your style philosophy?
V:
My style philosophy is: wear whatever you like, but wear it with confidence.

How would you describe your sense of style?
V:
Hmmm… I don’t really like to place a definition on it because I’m forever evolving. However, I will say that I like to mix prints and textures and I LOVE color.

What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
V:
The weather and my mood are the only things that shape what I’m wearing. In the morning I normally trash my room by throwing everything out of my closet desperately trying to put together the “perfect” look. I get exasperated, almost give up, and then stumble upon some amazing combination of clothes that I didn’t think of initially. I wish I could be cool and say it’s an effortless process, but it’s not. Lol

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
V:
This is a hard one because I love everything in my closet equally.
1 – Leather Converse (I never blog or Instagram in them, but I wear them practically everyday while I’m working with some sort of cute dress).
2 – Leather jacket from Zara. Something about a leather jacket makes any outfit instantly cool.
3 – White Jumpsuit from BB Dakota. This is a new piece for me, but I’m SO in love with it. The cut fits my body perfectly and it’s such a classic piece.

What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
V:
For Everything:
TopShop
BooHoo.com
Zara
Net-A-Porter
Shopbop

For Accessories:
BoujiBroad.com

How long have you been natural?
V:
My entire life. Crazy, huh? My mom never gave me a relaxer. I didn’t even know it was considered “natural” until about 2 years ago.

What is your signature hairstyle?
V:
My curly fro!!!

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
V:
Weekly, I start by deep conditioning with a homemade concoction (1 egg, half a banana, olive oil, honey). I leave this on my hair for 45 minutes to an hour. Then I steam my hair with my Q-Redew Handheld Hair Steamer and co-wash with Heavenly Scent Opulently Organic Conditioner (I mix in about 2 tablespoons of castor oil in the jar). If I’m doing a WNG I use Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner, Kinky Curly Knot Today, coconut oil, and then scrunch with Curls Goddess Curl Gel.

I normally co-wash my hair about 2-3 times a week depending on how dry I feel my hair is and I steam at least twice a week. At night I pineapple and sleep on a satin pillowcase. In the mornings I refresh my curls by misting them with a little water and vegetable glycerin. Also, I follow the Curly Girl Method, so I don’t use shampoo or any products that contain silicone or sulfates. I make sure to get my ends trimmed when they need it, and I use heat once every 6 months or so.
