Let me start this article off with saying that there is nothing wrong with the traditional pour oil into your hands, rub and apply method. This method has stood the test of time and certainly for non-liquid butters, is the only way to apply oil to hair. However, if all you want is a tiny mist or you want to really evenly and quickly spread oil over your hair, then here are a few gadgets that will make your work really easy
1. Oil Mister
If you have ever tried to put a liquid oil in a regular spray bottle, you will know that it will come out as more of a sharp directed spurt and not a spray. Oil misters which are originally designed for use in cooking, change this spurt into a spray by pressurising the container. Liquid oils/waxes such as olive, argan, castor, sunflower, sesame, jojoba or sweet almond are great for this purpose. Coconut oil can also be used but ideally you will want to make sure that the oil is completely liquid before you start pumping. Do read and follow the instructions of your mister to prevent clogging up the pump. If you desire a gentle mist or if you want to limit how much oil you are applying to your hair, this is the perfect gadget for you.
This gadget is a little bit like having several applicator bottles in one. The original purpose of the product is to be able to apply product to the scalp only. For those who like to oil their scalps, this is a great gadget for you. If you do not want to oil your scalp but you want to distribute small amounts of oil into sections quickly, then the roots only comb applicator will do that for you too. Once more, this gadget is suited to liquid oils or oils that can liquefy easily.
3. Oil Drizzler
Travelling back to the kitchen and many of us will already have an oil drizzler for controlling the amount of oil poured into pans or salads. The same gadget works equally well when what you want is not a small amount such as what an oil mister would give you, but at the same time, you do not want to spill large amounts of oil accidentally by tipping an open bottle. The nozzle of the drizzler gives you control over the oil amount.
