Beachy Eye Palettes Own Us for Spring/Summer

Hi muchachitas! I’m so excited, because I just planned my very first vacation with Lina out of the country. We’re going to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas! So much fun. The beach is stunning, there’s a ton of activities for children…and there’s even something called a “Kid’s Club” where you can drop off your child with a caregiver for a bit so you can enjoy sun-worshipping without being forced to recite dialogue from “Frozen” (gaaaaaahhhhh no more no more no more). Even though the trip isn’t until June, I’ve already started gathering my island beauty essentials in a little carryon. Good thing that, this season, the eyeshadow palettes are all trending towards a “beach babe” look. Which might be one of the best looks, ever. Crisp aquas, teals and baby blues that mimic the crests of the ocean…warm, gold-flecked tawnies, tans and bronzes that recall the glittering sand. Sigh. I’m getting tingly. I can almost smell the coconut sunscreen in the air. Oh, that actually is coconut sunscreen — it spilled in my carryon. Sorry, I haven’t had coffee (this post is all over the place).

In any event, here are my favorite two beachy palettes.

Lancome-Azur-Chic-Eyeshadow-PaletteHave you ever in life? No, you have not. Lancome’s new Color Design Palette in Azur Chic is exactly that — the shades looked like they were ripped right off the beaches of the Cote d’Azur. I’ve only had this for a week and a half, and I’ve already worn the sparkly blue shade (to brunch, mind you), and the three along the bottom make a perfect casually sculpted eye with a bit of drama (the champagne on the brow bone, the pale gold on the lid, and the cocoa in the crease). Stunners.

Mark Eye Color Palette in Island Eyes is along the same lines, just with a couple more fun shades! If you’re not really a gold girl, there’s a brilliant silver and pale dove grey, and the gold-flecked rose is lovely on all skin tones. I know, because I just used it on a range of girls — from a blue-eyed blonde to my coloring – when I did the bridesmaids at my cousin’s wedding. Brava, Mark, Brava.

The beauty in both palettes is that the shade range is a perf combination of brights and neutrals, so you have the option to go daring or casual. So smart. My beach vacay can’t come fast enough!

xo,
