[Pics] After Kanye West Held a Casting for ‘Multiracial Women’ Only, Black Women Showed up Anyway in Protest

So first a disclaimer; it is impossible to tell from looking at a person whether they are multiracial. Black genetics in particular produce a wide range of skin tones and hair textures. However, after Kanye West issued a controversial ‘multiracial women only’ casting call for his Season 4 Yeezy fashion show, many women with features that commonly occur among black women (tightly curled hair, dark skin, full lips and broad noses) showed up.

Was this a form of protest? Or did they just really want to be cast in a Kanye West fashion show? Either way, their presence begs the question… why should they be excluded? Their beauty, existing in a sea of multiraciality, is just as striking.

Adding another layer of complexity to the situation is the fact that, according to one woman who attended, white women were turned away, but the black women who showed up were not.

Women’s Wear Daily captured images of the many women who attended the casting. Check it out.
