L: My name is Liana and I am a professional actress and model working in NYC!
What is your style philosophy?
L: No matter what you’re doing or where you’re going, always dress better than you think you should. The way you style yourself can change the course of your day.
How would you describe your sense of style?
L: Dual-natured. I never go with the flow. I’m always wearing things that are obviously tacky, such as ‘cosplay’ wigs or faux tattoos just to see if I can actually get away with it.
What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
L: The process is quite ambiguous. I have to take into account the weather and what I’m doing that day. I will say that I never leave the house without my framed ‘nerd’ glasses!
What are the three favorite things in your closet?
L: Oh, I favor all of the things in my closet! But the item that is my absolute favorite is my platform sneakers from NastyGal.com.
What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
L: I love to shop at Goodwill. It’s what I’m known for. It’s like I live there. I shop online on Amazon.com too.
How long have you been natural?
L: I am going on my 6th year natural and I haven’t regretted a single day.
How and why did you transition into natural hair?
L: I simply buzzed all of my hair and started from scratch. Before, when I was a young gal, I was using perms and chemicals believing that straight hair was the only form of “beauty”. I was doing all of that hair maintenance for all the wrong reasons, and one day I finally out grew (no pun intended) the ideals. I embraced my own hair. These are my genetics. This is nature and it’s who I am.
What is your signature hairstyle?
L: Unless I have one of my crazy wigs on, I’m definitely rocking the curly-fro most of the time.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
L: Every two weeks I trim my own hair. I wash it every other day using Herbal Essences or Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo and Conditioner. On the days that I don’t wash my hair I use Doo Gro Oil, which is a hair growth stimulate that has worked wonders for me. I swear by it!
