As, I mentioned in my previous article on black dance squads, black marching band culture is simply unmatched. It’s unique in style, sound and essence. While perusing the net, I recently came across these fantastic vintage images of black majorettes on the Black Girls R Everything Tumblr and instantly was blown away.
This is the band for Alexander School on 5/12/ 1955. They were reordered 5/28/1963 for Judy Tyler. No names are noted. Scanned using 4 3/4 x 3 3/4 black and white Kodak Safety negative (Level 2 : slight edge curl.)
