5 End-of-Summer Natural Hair Styles to Rock

It seems like just yesterday, we were in the middle of June and summer was in full swing. But as temperatures are dropping (not quick enough in some places), and days are getting shorter, the magic of summer is slowly slipping away. Before the Autumnal Equinox picks up steam and you tuck your hair away for fall and winter, how about one last hurrah for those kinks, coils, and curls?

Check out these 5 styles to rock if you plan on hitting a family BBQ, hanging on the beach with friends, or heading out to a romantic dinner with bae before you turn down for Fall:

 1. Chic Pineapple

Pineapples aren’t just for sleeping! If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to rock your wash and go, twist, braid, or bantu knot out, while beating the heat, pineappling is the perfect go-to style. It takes seconds to do, and can be as neat, messy, sleek, or frizzy as you like. All you need is an ouchless band! Accessorize your pineapple with a cute scarf, or leave it as-is and throw on your cutest sunglasses to rock this farewell to summer look.

2. Two Braids

I loathed this style as a kid, but I have to admit that this look has come full circle. It’s fun, flirty, and is the perfect style transition your tresses from summer to fall. You can rock it on your own length of hair, or add in jumbo braiding hair. Need to know how to braid? My favorite demo to watch comes courtesy of Ms. Danti.

3. Side Wrap Braid Updo

The Chic Natural shows us how to get this super easy cute updo in under 5 minutes. All you need is an old wash and go, bantu knot out, twist out, or braid out, clips to hold hair out of the way, bobby pins, and a product to slick your edges (optional).

4. TopKnot with Bottom Half Down

This super cute style is versatile enough to go from day to night, and can work on any variety of lengths and styles. IKnowLee demonstrates this style on a braid and curl, but you can just as easily make it work on a wash and go, flexi rod set, twist out, or bantu knot out. All you need is an ouchless band and bobby pins. Product to slick edges is totally optional.

5. Super SleekFrohawk

There are several variations of the frohawk, but MiniMarley’s is definitely my favorite. It’s sleek, polished, fun, and fierce all at the same time. This style is perfect for keeping hair off your shoulders without going into full on protective styling mode. Achieve this look with coconut oil, Eco Styler Gel, a bristle brush for smoothing, and bobby pins.

How will you be rocking your hair this month before it’s time to protectively style?
