Style: Eromomen in California

Introduce yourself!
E:
My name is Eromomen. I live and work as a model in Los Angeles, CA. I am Nigerian and grew up in Oakland, CA.

What is your style philosophy?
E:
Clothes should make you feel good. Your style is your own individual artistic expression. Style is effortless.

How would you describe your sense of style?
E:
On any given day my style could change according to how I feel in the morning. Masculine vs. Feminine or even a masculine play on femininity. It changes a lot. I may wear a boho dress with boots one week and the following week accessorize and pair it with heels and a necklace. I cannot truly describe my style because style should not be limited to words. Describing my style would be like trying to scratch an itch through a silk blouse when you’re in public and unable to remove it; it’ll do the trick but doesn’t quite hit the nail on the head.

What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
E:
Weather!! Patterns or solids? Black or color? Heels or boots? (I don’t own regular flats). Skirt or dress? Pants or shorts? Standard “model” outfit or funky? These are my thoughts in the morning.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
E:
I have quite a few favorites:
– Brown cowboy boots (thrifted, had them since high school)
– Tie dye tank top (thrifted)
– Black jeans (boyfriend’s mother gifted me)
– Red and orange platform wedges (Zara)
– Black tank top (Urban Outfitters)
– Ankara Della shorts/jacket (Urban Outfitters)
– Black and gold patent leather Jordan 1′s (boyfriend gifted me)
– All my black hats (all thrifted)
– Ankara pants (got them made in Nigeria)

What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
E:
Zara, Urban Outfitters, and Nordstrom.

How long have you been natural?
E:
I’ve been natural over ten years, but I’ve had short hair for five.

How and why did you transition into natural hair?
E:
I’ve always wanted short hair, but in high school friends talked me out of it. Finally, in college after returning from a family vacation I decided to cut it off.

What is your signature hairstyle?
E:
My signature style is a simple black clean cut. Easy does it.

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
E:
Honestly I do not have a regimen, although I do wash my hair every day. Sometimes I brush it, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I oil it with coconut, avocado, castor, jojoba or other oils, and sometimes I don’t. There have been many times when I would wake up in the morning and cut a part on the side of my hair (I currently have a double part). And when I get really bored with my hair, I dye it a color that I believe compliments my skin.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
